Tara McClay

When the Planet of the Apes figures went on the cheap at Wal-Mart, I picked up a couple to hack up. When I looked at it, Daena looks almost exactly like Tara. At least from a certain angle; if you look at her from a high angle, she looks mentally ill. Anyway, I cut the legs down to make her about Willow's height and added some Sculpey to the torso to make it look more like a shirt and not just painted skin. The skirt is a big piece of latex I made to the right shape and painted a mix of green and tan. Her shirt is painted a mix of red and grey. Someday I might fix the minor quibbles I have with it (new hair, shorter arms, fuller torso). I also have yet to add accessories.

UPDATE:
So I finally got around to fixing up this figure. I cut the shoulders back at an angle to give Tara her trademark posture. I then had o cut the joint to make it look right. Next, I filled out the torso more, so it wouldn't have such a narrow waist. The last touch was shaving off all the hair and sculpting a new 'do. I really think the hair makes this one. I painted her clothes based on something she wore in "New Moon Rising," though at the time I didn't have a full body reference picture. In the episode she wears black pants with theis shirt, but a few scenes later she has a black skirt with a different shirt, so I mixed and matched.

ANOTHER UPDATE:
I finally got around to making Tara's first (& major) accessory: Miss Kitty Fantastico! I took a Mr. Bigglesworth from Dr. Evil & sculpted on hair as best I could (hard to do on something small, espescially when trying to keep articulation). I then painted black & white, as seen in "Restless." I started out by cutting off the head & sculpting a neck, which kinda worked, although Kitty looks like she's lookin' at the ground. I have yet to put her with Tara (she's at home, I'm at school).
